Calgary Welsh Society Events Calendar
A number of Social Events are organised throughout
the year.
The following are an example of the most notable.
St. David’s
Day Banquet and Celebration
This is the highlight of the year as it is the most important
cultural event in our social calendar. It is usually held on
the Saturday closest to March 1st.
The event consists of a dinner, guest speaker, ‘County
Call’, entertainment (soloists, instrumentalists and choir
singing by the Welsh Society Celtic Choir), and folk dancing.
Annual General Meeting
Held during the month of April, business is usually dispensed
with first leaving most of the evening to a buffet supper,
entertainment, and time to mingle and socialize. This has become
an increasingly popular event.
Summer Picnic
This is a fun filled afternoon, of sunbathing, socializing and
games. Location varies
‘Poems and
Pints’
A much loved informal evening of impromptu entertainment by members
and non-members. This event is held in October.
Christmas Banquet
and Concert
This is a semi formal event. Again a popular and well attended
event that offers a variety of entertainment in conjunction
with a good traditional turkey dinner.
